How the label is calculated

Each value you enter is rounded using the FDA’s rules: calories to the nearest 5 (or 10 above 50), fats to the nearest 0.5 g up to 5 g, sodium to the nearest 5 or 10 mg, and carbohydrates, fiber, sugars, and protein to the nearest gram. The % Daily Value is worked out from the amount you entered against the current FDA Daily Values, then rounded to a whole percent.

Frequently asked questions

Is the label FDA-compliant?
It uses the 2016 FDA vertical Nutrition Facts format, with rounding and % Daily Value calculated per 21 CFR 101.9. You remain responsible for confirming your serving size, allergen statement, and overall compliance before printing on a product.
Is it free?
Yes. You can build your label and download a watermarked PNG for free, with no account. A Pro plan removes the watermark and adds print-ready PDF export, saved products, and bulk CSV import.
Which label format does it create?
The standard 2016 FDA vertical Nutrition Facts label — the format required on most packaged foods sold in the United States.
Can I use it for products I sell on Amazon or Etsy?
Yes, the label itself works for any packaged food. A retail barcode (UPC) is separate and must be obtained from GS1; this tool only generates the nutrition label.
