Questions
- Where does the nutrition data come from?
- Every number comes from USDA FoodData Central, the U.S. government's authoritative public-domain food composition database. Nothing is estimated or invented.
- Is the Recipe Nutrition Calculator free?
- Yes — searching ingredients, calculating per-serving nutrition, and downloading the label are all free, with no account required.
- How are per-serving values calculated?
- We convert each ingredient to grams, sum the nutrients across the whole recipe, divide by the number of servings, and round to FDA label rounding rules.
- Can I use this for an FDA-compliant product label?
- The calculator follows FDA rounding and the 2016 label format. For a regulated retail product, have your final values reviewed against 21 CFR 101.9, since serving size and data sourcing rules can be specific to your product.
